Because you are writing for an open audience on the internet, you may find that before you know it, you are communicating with people beyond class, the school, and even the state!
Using blogs gives us the opportunity to link information and useful websites to our pages to share what we learn with other people. It's a lot like social networking sites, only here, you can share information relevant to what we are learning about in class.
As many of you start to think about college, it is especially important to think about how internet usage will impact your college experience. (Just think about the fact that we were just starting to use the internet when I was in college, and you can imagine how fast things will change for you!)
More and more courses are offered completely online and almost all colleges and courses have online requirements. The majority of professors expect documents to be exchanged online now. With all of this in mind, consider:

- In class this year i'll be using my blog to write and see reactions to what we're learning and see other peoples opinions. I think the skills i could learn here that would help me for college would be the way i can get my thoughts and opinions out and also learning better typing skills. I don't really have any concerns about blogging.
This year, I will use my blog to share ideas with peers and my teacher about stories we read. Skills that I might use here that will help me in college in the future is writing my opinions and reading other students opinions as well and being able to talk with one another about stories. The only problem I have with blogging is getting started to blog, but I believe I will learn over time.

Hey Ms. Mergott, it's Anand Patel from Period 3 - English 3 CP. Last year was my first experience with blogspot and I'm pretty used to the directions and controls on blogspot. I've experienced on how to blog using tumblr too. I hope blogging this year will be exciting!
-I'll use my blog to create literary criticism and reflect on my opinion of the stories we read in class.
-The skills that I'll probably use here that will help me in the future would be typing skills on the computer to improve my typing. Also, I will be able to use my skills of analyzing stories that I could use in classes in college.

This year I will use my blog to help me understand whatever we are doing that I dont understand. Since there are many students that Ms.Mergott has that probably understand some things better than me I can be helped very easily. Some skills that I can learn here that will help me in college is learning how to work with others on getting something done. The only concern I have is not being online the same time as a teacher or a student.

- Blogging is basically saying your mind out loud. This would be a great skill for college especially when you start writing papers. It would make it less monotone an add color to the writing

It is good to see that so many of you are already thinking about college. I think that it is an entirely different skill set from what you have done in the past to have to read and post on discussion boards and blogs.
